Travel Info & Parking

PARKING & BUSES

There is no official race car park and there will be no parking available at Exeter Arena – if you have to drive to the event we advise using pay and display car parks in the city centre and purchasing a shuttle bus ticket via the Let’s Do This registration website.  Details of city centre car parks can be found here: https://exeter.gov.uk/car-parking/car-parks/find-a-car-park/

If you intend to be dropped off by car for the event, we advise being dropped off in roads surrounding Exeter Arena and walking the final bit

SHUTTLE BUSES
Our shuttle bus service will depart the city centre from the main bus terminal Stand 12 between 7am and 8:00am. Buses drop off close to Exeter Arena and will start running return services from the area outside Whipton Village Shops from 11:15am or once the first bus is full.

BIKE PARK
A Bike Park area will operate at Exeter Arena for the first time in 2024. This will be located in the Arena Car Park and will be accessible to both runners and spectators. Bike parking is available on a first-come-first-served basis.

ROAD CLOSURES & DIVERSIONS

IMPORTANT TRAVEL AND ACCESS INFORMATION

Exeter’s Great West Run will be taking place on Sunday 26th May 2024. This established half marathon is an annual fixture in the city’s calendar and is expected to attract around 4000 entrants, many of whom are fundraising for local and national charities.

Using the city’s streets for the race will cause changes to usual traffic routes for a limited period on raceday. In planning the event every effort is made to minimise the disruption caused with the closing of roads. Where closures occur, and where possible, diversions will be in place to ensure continued access around the city for motorists and public transport. To aid the flow of traffic prior to the race start, a number of crossing points will be in operation; these are detailed on the map above.

Road closures will be in operation from 7:00am in most areas and will re-open once runners have passed by and it is safe to do so. Roads will begin to re-open from 9:45am with all being re-opened fully by 1:00pm.

A map of the route is shown above. Please refer to the information on the map and contact us with any unanswered queries. Please note that estimated re-opening times are detailed on the map.

We appreciate your understanding with any inconvenience you experience due to these restrictions and hope this advance notice helps with planning your travel around the closures; please do allow extra time for your journey.
